1. Succeed at life.

2. Succeed at life.

Enjoy This "Phantasm V: Ravager" Holiday Gift

Omg I've been waiting for years for a sequel!

The DJ name as a second identity

Ever since the start of my DJ career, I have always been known as DJ Tide. I would always introduce myself by this monicker to other DJs, promoters, clubbers, etc. I have quite a few number of reasons as to why I introduce myself by my DJ name and not by my real name. The following list will explain my reasons for doing so.

1. Separating my DJ life from my personal life.

When I DJ at parties, whether it be nightclubs, raves, or music festivals, I always try to keep my personal life a secret. With how advanced the internet is nowadays, It is easy for people to find out the address, phone number, etc. of others. With how many crazies I have met over the years, its best to be better safe than sorry.

2. Mysterious

I feel that being only known by my DJ name helps me to maintain an air of mystery. I feel being mysterious helps to maintain a certain image, the image of a DJ.

3. My real name

My real name is very hard to pronounce for most people.

4. DJ names are easy to remember

Usually when i introduce myself to others, I tend to forget the other person's real name. That was one of the main reasons I picked Tide as my DJ name, as it is short and easy to remember, plus it reminds people to wash their laundry!

Recently I revealed my real name via Facebook, but most people still think Tide is my real name. WHat can I say, I like to keep it Fresh and Clean!

I think I have....

a serious addiction to buying the most random cheap things on Ebay. :{

What is your natural high?

For myself I feel Djing is the best natural high that I have experienced. Connecting with the audience on a musical level, feeling what their feeling, feeling their energy, is the greatest high I have always experienced. It seriously never gets old.

OCD

OCD has been a struggle for quite a number of years, and only recently have I been able to keep it at a minimum. Here is an article I wrote about my experience with this disorder.

This article was written exclusively for BrainPhysics.com by "Tide." He explains how he came to realize that he had obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) as well as the effects the disorder has had on his life.

OCD was never prevalent in my family, but as far back as I can remember, I've had what I consider a slight case of OCD.

When I'd get home from school, I would constantly check my pocket to see whether I had forgotten my wallet or keys. I never thought anything of it and always figured that I was just being extra careful.

Throughout my teen years, I would have episodes of OCD flare-ups, usually comprised of checking my school bag to make sure all of my books were in it or making sure the window in my room was locked.

But in retrospect, my OCD symptoms weren’t nearly as bad then as they were later in my adult life, and they never hindered my life in any negative way. My recollection of the disorder coming into its fullest effect and becoming a negative impact in my life was a couple of years ago when I was 26.

Relationship OCD

The first time I noticed my OCD causing me torture was when I was with my ex-girlfriend. I was having some pretty horrific drama in my life, and let’s just say that I wasn’t in a very happy relationship.

I would constantly wonder whether my ex was cheating on me or lying to me. It went from thinking about it once a day to twice a day to eventually staying up for hours checking her websites to see if I could catch her in a lie.

It became not just a daily negative impact on my life but also a daily ritual. The only way I was able to overcome this, albeit for a little while, was to finally end the relationship. And with the end of that relationship, I was relieved of my burden for a while. At least until the next time it occurred...

No Diagnosis Needed

I have never been to a doctor to be diagnosed with OCD, but I know that I have it because I don’t think it’s normal for one to spend three hours locking and unlocking the front door.

With the help of Google and YouTube, I was able to find information pertaining to OCD as well as videos that helped me to lessen my OCD symptoms.

I still have slight tinges of OCD flare-ups every so often but nothing as bad as in my past. I will elaborate more on the different treatments I've tried as well as other OCD episodes in my life.

Till next time!

Worlds.net

One of the more bizarre relics of the internet, Worlds.net was a Avatar based chat program that was a precursor to Second-Life. Popular in the mid 90s to early 2000s, Worlds.net reportedly cost over a million dollars to produce.

Retro Gaming

I grew up in the eighties arcade era, and it is one of my most fondest memories. I now produce Youtube Let's Play videos, where I record myself playing arcade games.

Filipino Food Markets

Filipino dishes was something I was never fond of growing up, and till this day I tend to be very selective of what I eat. But as a part of my culture, I admire the many styles and types of dishes that originated from my home country.

There are so many different types of fruits and vegetables for sale at these markets. The different colors are very attractive to me, so I could not help to take a few photos.

I had no idea that shrimp were even this color, my aunt had to explain to me that there are different types of shrimp. I felt very sheltered after finding out that information.

This market, known as "Festival" is always busy with customers buying fresh ingredients for their dishes. The market is located in Waipahu, and I highly recommend it if you want to buy fresh ingredients. A bit of a warning, the parking lot has limited stalls, so be sure to go earlier in the day.

Hardest thing about Filipino markets...

Is trying to find your aunts or mother. All the old filipino ladies look the same!

PLUR or PLURR?

Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. These four words were ingrained into my head in my early party days. They were a staple of the underground rave scene, a mantra for the many souls who partook in their weekly rituals of letting loose their stress filled weeks. Raves were a Mecca for all walks of life, and you could literally meet so many different types of people. Some notable people I have met at raves included priests, monks, house wives, grandmothers, generally people one would never expect to run into at an underground dance party. PLUR for me was the staple that binded all these various individuals into one complete book, for PLUR gave myself and others a culture commonality. At this time, the music was important but played the second fiddle in the grand scheme of the rave orchestra. It was a time, and definitely culture, that does not seem to exist anymore. The advent of the extra R, which stands for responsibility, seems to me to be an oxymoron, as there is hardly any responsibility when it comes to what raves have meant over the years. The inclusion of corporate sponsorships, the ever growing size of three day festivals, and the cookie cutter formulas of dance music nowadays, has destroyed what was once a scene that was about belonging. Instead it is now a scene about fitting in.

Vinyl Love

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/9ff/43561291/files/2014/12/img_0708.jpg

Mixing with vinyl is an art that seems to be fading with every year. With the creation of such DVS programs as Serato and Traktor, as well as the growing trend in the controller market, vinyl record popularity as a DJ medium has grown less. It is understandable though, as vinyl tends to be a bit pricey, especially compared to mp3s.

Even though I also use controllers and DVS formats, I always miss using vinyl. Nothing will ever beat the feeling of owning that white label that no one else has. The anticipation of waiting for your records to arrive in the mail. The feel and smell of fresh vinyl was to me comparable to smelling fresh roses in the morning. Having learned DJing on vinyl records will always be a skill that I will cherish, as nowadays it is rare to even see DJs play full vinyl sets. I may retire someday, but I will never get rid of my vinyl record collection.
